The Service Dogs for America Board of Directors is a diverse group of individuals who share a common goal. That goal is defined within the words of our Mission Statement. Some members have been with the program since the very beginning, while others are comparatively new to the board. This provides us with the insight that our history gives us while offering new and fresh ideas.

The objective of any board of directors is basic, that is, to set the direction of the organization. They define in broad terms what it is that the organization shall accomplish. They are also responsible for keeping the organization on course and assuring that it follows all applicable laws in doing so. While simple in concept, the actual job can be quite tedious and difficult.

Service Dogs for America holds board meetings on a monthly basis. Regularly scheduled meetings take place on the third Sunday of each month, with the annual meeting held in January. Special meetings may be called and held in the interim.

For some non-profits, the board of directors consists of those that have the ability to contribute large sums of money toward the mission. With SDA this is not the case. Our board members have a simple vested interest… that is their time and caring.
